Privacy Policy

How we handle your information

Plain-language answers to what we collect, why, where it's stored, and how to ask us to change or delete it.

Before you rely on this page

This policy describes what this website actually does today, drafted to be accurate and specific rather than generic boilerplate. It is not a substitute for legal advice. Rays of Hope is a young, pre-launch organization — before real patient or health-related data flows through this site in production, this policy and the underlying data practices should be reviewed by a qualified Swiss data-protection lawyer, particularly given the Swiss Federal Act on Data Protection's (nFADP) heightened requirements for health-related information.

Who we are

Rays of Hope Against Skin Cancer is a Swiss non-profit organization founded in memory of Christopher. For anything in this policy, you can reach us at rimbelaoud@gmail.com.

What we collect, and why

We only collect what you choose to submit through one of our forms. We don't use ad trackers, analytics cookies, or third-party marketing pixels on this site.

Need Help form

Name, email, who you're reaching out as, and which categories of help you're looking for — these are stored, with your name and email encrypted. Your written message is emailed to us directly and is not stored in our database at all; we ask you not to include specific medical details in it while we finish a full privacy review, and follow up personally for anything more.

Help Us form

Name, email, how you'd like to help, and any message you add. Used only to follow up about volunteering, pro bono work, or other contributions.

Donate form

Name, email, and the amount/frequency you're considering. No payment details are collected on this site — we don't have an online payment portal yet, so this only records your interest so we can follow up to complete the gift manually.

Technical data

A hashed (not raw) version of your IP address and browser type, kept briefly to prevent spam and abuse of our forms — not used to identify you.

Legal basis

We process the information above based on your explicit consent, given by checking the consent box on each form before submitting it. You can withdraw consent at any time by contacting us — see "Your rights" below.

Where your data is stored

Our website and database are hosted with a provider located in Switzerland, so your data stays on Swiss soil rather than being transferred abroad. We'll name our specific hosting provider here once our infrastructure is finalized.

Who can access it

Only Rays of Hope's founding team can access submitted information, strictly to respond to your request or offer. We never sell your data, and we don't share it with advertisers or data brokers. We may share the minimum necessary information with a service provider acting on our behalf (for example, our hosting provider, which only processes data to keep the site running) — never for their own marketing purposes.

How long we keep it

We keep form submissions for up to 24 months, after which the stored content is automatically removed from our systems unless we're still actively in touch with you about it. You can ask us to delete your information sooner at any time.

The Need Help form's written message is an exception: it isn't stored in our database at all, at any point. It's forwarded once by email at the moment you submit it, and that email — not a database — is the only place it's kept, subject to our own email provider's retention. Only your name, email, and the general category of help you're looking for are stored (encrypted) for up to 24 months as described above.

Security measures

The site is served over HTTPS. Name and email from the Need Help form are encrypted before they're stored, so they aren't readable as plain text even from within our database. Access to our database and hosting account is restricted and password-protected. We also rate-limit form submissions to reduce spam and automated abuse.

Your rights

Under Swiss data protection law, you have the right to:

To exercise any of these rights, email rimbelaoud@gmail.com. We'll respond personally — we're a small team, so this may take a few days rather than being instant.

Cookies

This site does not currently use analytics, advertising, or tracking cookies. If that changes, we'll update this policy and ask for your consent first.

Changes to this policy

We'll update this page as our practices evolve — for example, once we finalize hosting, add online payments, or introduce any analytics. Material changes will be reflected here with an updated date.
